Country House

The prominent endeavor of designing a country residence in Southampton on Long Island refers to the rich tradition of American shinglestyle houses which is combined with the heritage of Swiss timber construction.

In this specific constructive consciousness – with its distinct application – the inheritance of Swiss tectonic quality and American spatial grandness of the wide open seaside landscape merge. The integration of the two produces a unique and mysterious work of architecture joining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary savoir-vivre. Therefore, this becomes the leitmotif of our design approach, in which the compositional framework envisions a dynamic conceptual dialogue between the ascending impetuosity of the earthwork and the integration and moderation of the roofwork. In other words, where the bottom-up of the massive, encounters the top-down of the filigree.
